About Us
Galvin Flying Services is one of the oldest, largest and most respected independent FBOs in the industry with a spirit to serve that Jim Galvin created on Boeing Field in 1930.
Galvin Flying Services: October 31, 1930
Only three years after Charles Lindbergh soloed from New York to Paris, Jim Galvin started his flight business on Boeing Field in Seattle. Galvin, a veteran of the Coast Guard, offered a variety of services on Boeing Field, from barnstorming, to flying newspaper reporters, to providing flight instruction during World War II. He made customer service his number one priority while sharing his joy of flying with others.
Jim’s nephew, Peter G. Anderson joined the company in 1969 as an aircraft groomer and ascended to President of the company in 1980, where he remains today. Peter still holds true to his Uncle Jim’s ways and continues to make customer service and safety the company’s primary focus.
Over the years, Jim Galvin’s legacy of first-class service has grown, making Galvin Flying Services one of the oldest, largest and most respected independent FBOs in the industry. Galvin has grown since its beginnings and today offers a full array of line services, aircraft charter and management, aircraft sales, and flight instruction.
Galvin Flying Services: Present
As the FBO of choice in Seattle, Galvin Flying Services offers award-winning line services, charter services, aircraft sales and management, as well as an FAA-approved flight school.
Galvin Flying Services offers nearly 1 million square feet of space at KBFI, and sells more than 16 million gallons of fuel per year. The flight school has a robust student population, and is one of only two flight schools nation-wide that is approved to train FAA inspectors. Galvin Flying Services’ ARG/US Gold-rated and Wyvern approved charter department averages over 2200 flight hours each year, and offers the most diverse fleet in the Pacific Northwest. Our commitment to these services has made Galvin Flying Services one of the most reliable and respected aviation service providers in the industry since 1930.
Personalized customer safety and service are our top priorities, and we excel at providing them. When you come to Galvin Flying Services, you have more than 80 years of aviation experience working for you. At Galvin Flying Services, we work hard to exceed your expectations.
Meet the Managers
Chris Bollert – Line Operations Manager
Chris has been with Galvin for 25 years. In that department he has served as a Line Technician, Shift Supervisor, Safety & Training Coordinator and finally Line Operations Manager. He began his career washing airplanes for the Galvin Flight School and Charter Department during his summer after high school. His family being third generation aviation professionals, a summer job at the airport seemed an inevitable way to save up money for college. Despite his original short term outlook, he soon found that he was hooked. He loved the atmosphere at Galvin Flying, and was thrilled to be a part of the action – be it a presidential visit, a sporting event, a corporate merger, or even the arrival of the Concorde.
Along with the exciting aspects of the job comes unique challenges that often try the patience of even the most seasoned crew. Even when his teams felt strained beyond the limits trying to accommodate some special arrival, they would press on, knowing they were there serve the Pacific Northwest’s aviation needs. Even when things were hectic, Chris knew deep down that the team he was a part of played an essential role, an ideal which has always given him a deep sense of pride.
During Chris’ time at Galvin he has seen many changes: new facilities, new equipment, expansion into new business lines, ever more sophisticated aircraft. As to this evolution, Chris had this to say, “Through it all Galvin has stayed true to its core values: providing world class service where customers are treated like family; maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. Galvin has always focused on its employees as the key to its success. That is why I have always been proud to be a member of the Galvin team.”
