Galvin Flying Services Two Newest Flight Training Devices

Galvin Flying Services, Inc. has recently (September 12, 2007) taken delivery of yet another outstanding flight training device, incorporating the Garmin G1000 integrated avionics suite and the Diamond DA42 TwinStar advanced technology aircraft. Manufactured for Diamond by their own simulator division, it fully replicates the Twin Star environment.

The new Diamond Twin Star flight training device (not technically a simulator, which is a full motion device)  is now available for flight training for all Galvin customers. Please call the switchboard for rates and additional information. Current customers with access to WingsARS can reserve simulator time there.

As part of Galvin’s commitment to being an innovator in advanced technology training, with particular focus on the Garmin G1000, this FTD provides a seamless transition from our industry-leading scenario-based ground school course, to the cockpits of G-1000-equipped airplanes including our Diamond TwinStars, DiamondStars, Cessna 172 and Columbia 400, all with advanced glass cockpit avionics displays.

Frasca DA40 G1000 Mentor FTDIn addition to the exciting new Twin Star FTD, we've accepted delivery in early September of the first  Frasca G1000 Mentor FTD with the Garmin integrated autopilot, the GFC 700. This unique combination of G1000 and Frasca technology allows us to train pilots specifically for the Diamond DA40 Diamond Star aircraft, from private pilot candidates right through to instrument ratings, this will reduce costs, improve learning, and assist pilots on general proficiency, Instrument Proficiency Checks, and Flight Reviews amongst other objectives.

Galvin Flying Services flight school has the most NAFI Master Instructors of any flight training facility in the United States. Galvin has factory trained instructors for G1000 Columbia, Diamond, and Beech, as well as having G1000 current instructors available for Mooney and Cessna products.

Galvin Flying Services, Inc. is the oldest flight training organization in the Pacific Northwest, started in 1930, and continuing the fine tradition today at Boeing Field (KBFI) in Seattle.

Simulator time is available for purchase in blocks. Contact our front desk for details.

Galvin's training agenda includes significant simulator time. Here's some of the reasons we've chosen to incorporate simulation in many of our training programs.

  • Cost Efficiency
  • Training Effectiveness

If you're practicing an instrument approach in an aircraft, you shoot the approach, then you need to circle around for a significant amount of time to do it again. In the meantime you'll have been exposed to real-world flight situations, and that's good, but you'll arrive at the approach again, and the conditions will have changed. So, if you require additional training under the previous conditions, you're not going to get it. And, the costs of shooting the two approaches will be much higher than if you'd been sitting in a simulator where the exact same approach under the exact same conditions can be done more times at a lower cost.

There's NO substitute for real aircraft time, but simulation CAN and DOES prepare you by isolating out only those areas that need polishing and repetition, until such time as you've mastered them. THEN, real IMC is called for, when you're prepared, confident, and ready.

We use a Frasca G1000 Mentor tailored for the Diamond Star DA40, and an Elite PC-ATD simulator, and are now offering simulation for a Garmin G1000 cockpit in our new Diamond TwinStar G1000 simulator. This outstanding simulator offers a cockpit environment idential to the actual DA42 cockpit, with a fully functioning G1000 avionics suite. You'll be astounded at the realism, and you'll benefit by learning the actual positions, functions, and checklists you'll be using in the real aircraft.
