Ramsey R. Pederson, Chancellor, and Ralph Hiatt, Director Pacific Aerospace Training Center, Honolulu Community College have announced the selection of Galvin Flying Services, Inc. of Seattle, WA as flight training provider.
Honolulu Community College (HCC) is owned and operated by the University of Hawaii. Flight training is provided at Kalaeloa airport at the former Barbers Point Naval Air Station near Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu, HI. Flight training at HCC has previously been provided by the aviation program at the University of North Dakota, of Grand Forks ND.
Beginning with the fall semester in August, 2007, the HCC/Galvin program will become the most technically advanced of any community college flight program. HCC envisions working with students from the local area as well as students and airline trainees from the Asia-Pacific region. Said Chancellor Pederson: “We are very pleased with the modern approach that Galvin Flying Services, Inc. takes to pilot training and customer service. We expect our flight program to be a leader in collegiate pilot training, and we have confidence that our Galvin relationship will make it so.”
Galvin Flying Services is a premier provider of training in technologically advanced aircraft, using a fleet of Diamond aircraft including the four seat Diamond Star, and the four seat twin diesel Diamond Twin Star. These aircraft represent the most advanced technology available in general aviation training aircraft. The Diamond Star and the Twin Star both utilize the Garmin G1000 flight deck, an integrated glass panel GPS system incorporating features typically found in airline cockpits. These aircraft make the transition into airline cockpits a logical and seamless progression.
Drawing upon seventy five years of flight training experience, based at Boeing Field in Seattle, and using the latest in simulator technology, Galvin has developed a training syllabus and training materials which lead the industry. As one of the first flight schools in the nation to accept delivery both of advanced simulators and the Diamond Twin Star, Galvin has been instrumental in proving the value of these exciting new aircraft to career training. Honolulu Community College has selected Galvin Flying Services based upon Galvin’s philosophy of integrating the latest advances in technology and new directions in professional pilot training.
